अमेरिकी तकनीकी दिग्गज www.google.comकॉरपोरेशन ने 7.2 अरब डॉलर यानी 5.44 अरब यूरो [करीब 489 अरब रुपये] में फिनलैंड स्थित नोकिया के मोबाइल हैंडसेट कारोबार के अधिग्रहण का समझौता किया है। तेजी से बढ़ते मोबाइल बाजार में सैमसंग और एप्पल के प्रभुत्व को चुनौती देने की रणनीति के तहत माइक्रोसॉफ्ट ने यह सौदा किया है। यह सौदा वर्ष 2014 की पहली तिमाही में पूरा होगा।
सौदे के तहत माइक्रोसॉफ्ट नोकिया के डिवाइस कारोबार के लिए 3.79 अरब यूरो और पेटेंट अधिकारों के लिए 1.65 अरब यूरो का भुगतान करेगी। माइक्रोसॉफ्ट के सीईओ स्टीव बाल्मर ने कहा कि भविष्य के नजरिये से यह सौदा एक साहसिक कदम है। दोनों कंपनियों के कर्मचारियों, शेयरधारकों और उपभोक्ताओं सभी के लिए लाभदायक है। हाल के सालों में मोबाइल फोन बाजार का यह दूसरा सबसे बड़ा अधिग्रहण है। इससे पहले दिग्गज सर्च इंजन गूगल ने हैंडसेट कंपनी मोटोरोला को खरीदा था।
